COOLING TOWER MAINTENANCE
Cooling Tower is a tool to cool hot water from the condenser or ‘heat exchanger’ by contacting it directly with air by forced convection using a fan. In cooling tower maintenance, operators or users generally only use methods or use chemicals that are cleaners only.
4 problems that often occur in Cooling Tower systems are corrosion, scale, bacteria/moss, and also sediment. If the user only uses softener, filter or lime absorber, this can indeed prevent the formation of scale, but is not enough to prevent corrosion. Damage due to corrosion can occur in the Cooling Tower due to chemical / electromagnetic reactions from salts in the circulating water. And if corrosion has occurred, the corrosion products will become scale deposits and can become ‘food’ for the growth of bacteria/moss and some of them will become sediment or suspended solid. Over time, the cooling tower cannot work optimally and ends up being damaged.
That is the importance of using chemicals comprehensively (thoroughly) and not partial (only focusing on one problem). One problem can give rise to other problems (cooling square problems).

Scale
Solution : Aquaright CTS 504, CTS 505
AQUARIGHT CTS 505 is a blend of organophosphorus compounds, selected polymer and dispersant, designed to control corrosion and prevent scale deposition in large recirculating open cooling systems operating on medium or hard make -up waters
Corrosion
Solution : Aquaright CH 10 N
AQUARIGHT CH 10 N is a liquid corrosion and scale inhibitor for sealed cooling system and chilled water circuits using distilled, softened (Total Hardness < 50 mg/L as CaCO 3), or fresh water. Effective even where oxygen may be re-entrained in the circulating water. Suitable for most metals including copper and aluminium. AQUARIGHT CH 10 N should normally be used with an effective biocide (but not when associated with a fresh water generator producing water for drinking and culinary purposes).
Bacteria or Moss
Solution : Aquaright CA 202, CB 303
AQUARIGHT CB 303 is liquid biocide based on isothiazolone and is a broad spectrum biocide that is effective at very low concentrations in controlling both the planctonic and surface growth of bacteria, fungi and algae in the cooling water system. And have been used specifically for water treatment and paper mill applications.
Precipitate or suspended solid
Solution : Aquaright CTS 504, CTS 505
Dispersant that designed to control corrosion and prevent scale deposition. May be dosed direct to the system either
neat or diluted as required in a mixing tank. Usage of a metering pump is strongly recommended.
